Set intensions with the New Moon

I’ve always been “moon sensitive”.  Usually two to three days before and after the full moon I am a bit restless and it is sometimes hard to sleep…and then with the new moon sometimes I feel more tired…this could be a pattern for you but you may not have even realized it, or it could be the opposite for you!  But it might be fun to just pay attention to the moon phases just to see if you notice any synchronicities with your own body and the moon cycle.

I know some people don’t think that is an actual “thing” but all I can say is ask any nurse or teacher and they will agree that the moon effects the patients/kids.

I’ve always felt like it makes sense that we would be somehow affected by moon.  I don’t know how or why, but I feel like I’ve always known.  Maybe it’s because growing up in a rural area and growing up around farming and farm animals, it just always seemed that the animals were affected by the moon…baby animals being born and such…

I grew up with the farmer’s almanac being a staple in our house hold.  The farmer’s almanac takes things like the moon, sun, tides and positions of the planets into consideration for their “forecast”.  My thought has always been if the moon is strong enough to affect the ocean, surely it affects us!

It’s fun to bring a spiritual aspect into connection with the moon energy.  The New Moon is about creating something new or new beginnings, whereas the Full Moon is about releasing or letting go of what isn’t’ working, what you’re tired of, or what you don’t want to carry with you into the next cycle. I also feel like this helps us feel connected to nature and the cycles that the earth is going through.

In this guest webinar Michelle of Spiritual U talks us though how to make our New Moon intension more powerful by bringing in the elements.

You all know I am a big supporter of learning self-care, so I love the idea of creating a self-nurturing routine to go along with the moon! With a new moon everything becomes new.

  • First light a candle
  • Next sit with a notebook or journal and write your intensions of what you want to bring into your life.
  • Start a bath (Epsom salt or sea salt is great to use and you can add essential oils)
  • While the bath is running make yourself a glass of hot tea (Or pour yourself a nice glass of wine!)
  • Soak in the bath and “soak up” the energy of the intensions you set for yourself. **Maybe even listen to a meditation while you’re in the bathtub.
  • Nurture yourself by enjoying the bath, feeling the water, breathing in the air and just relaxing for a bit.

I’d love to invite you to join us in the Embodied Grace Community on FB.

Also, I will be opening up my next group program in a few weeks!  If you’re interested get on my waiting list, so you’ll be the first one to know when it’s going to start.

Till next time,

Jennifer
