I realized today that I have totally gotten off track with my mediation time. Spirit is talking quickly and clearly these days and so I haven’t taken time to really get quiet and be still. I’ve been feeling the call to prayer and meditation fairly strong the last few days but of course “been so busy” that I haven’t given that dedicated time like I usually do.
I know that I need this time just for the quiet and the connection to God, but of course I used to be more diligent about meditating to make sure I was getting clear messages especially for my clients. I’m confessing that I’m human and I get off track and even though my clients know that I teach them that meditation is my go to, sometimes even I put it off.
However today I HAD TO. I just was feeling out of sorts and in a tizzy almost. I have a to-do list a mile long but I had to just put that list aside and meditate.
Interestingly enough what came to mind was just being still, and not conforming…….hhhmmmm
Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world:
but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
Romans 12:2 simply means to not be so wrapped up in the to do part of your day that you skip out on prayer time? What if do not be conformed means to be in the moment and not run around all frazzled like most people do? What if the whole point of do not conform means to learn to live life in a peaceful manner without worry? What if it is so we can slow down enough to realize we are all connected and that is the most important thing? What if our to do lists are really just keeping us away from what really matters? What if being still and present for just 5 minutes a day is the most important thing we do each day?
After just 15 minutes of meditation and prayer my perspective for the day has changed. I was able to look at my list and sort out what “had” to be done now, and what could be put into just a “well this would be nice to get done” list.
I know sometimes people will say “I don’t know how to meditate” so I want to offer a free Ebook called Meditation Made Easy. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org for your free copy.
