Last weekend we took a long ride on the bike into the hills around Conifer. Jim and I really enjoy the sunshine and the mountains, and it was perfect weather. Normally I just enjoy the ride and the scenery, but this weekend for some reason, my spiritual and emotional energy seemed to be intense.
As we were taking the curves, it came to me clearly how many spiritual lessons can be learned on the back of a Motorcycle!
You have to fully trust. It’s one thing to take a road trip in a vehicle and trust that everything will be ok…but it’s a whole other experience on a motorcycle. You have to trust the person driving. You have to trust the other vehicles. You have to trust the elements/weather.
This specific ride really made me realize and connect with how much we have to fully trust God to know that life is safe and that we are in His hands.
Lean into it;
Sometimes sharp curves are uncomfortable but you have to lean into it. Resisting makes it less safe. If you don’t lean into the uncomfortable situations in life, you may not make it through ….you might “crash and burn.” This sounds crazy to some people but this is the part of spirituality where you have to “dive into the darkness.” Sometimes you have to really admit the yuck of a situation. Resisting it or pretending it is ok doesn’t allow healing. Lean into the uncomfortable.
Enjoy the ride;
Being in fear the whole time would be miserable. You truly have to let go and enjoy the ride. This is true of life in general. You’ve got to learn to enjoy the ride. We can spend all of our time worrying or fretting or planning for things that may or may not happen. When you can truly let go and just enjoy the ride, enjoy the moment…that is where the true peace comes in.
Till next time,
